18 November 2004

Present: T, E, A, S

Apologies: None

Agenda:
Drinks
Spending of money given, resources required
Update of progress on Studies
Objectives
Hoodies
Scripture Passage
Prayer
Language Lesson

Meeting commenced approximately 20:00, this time in a booth with padded backs (Emily did try to encourage us all to sit on the one bench, however the maturity of the others prevailed)

Once again drinks were purchased, and again 5 ‘McCafe™ Dollars’ were obtained for Kelly.

Bible study progress was discussed, and looks to be going well. We also discussed objectives for each of the studies, to help us get a bit of direction and focus – what are we aiming for, what do we want people to get out of them?

It was decided to go ahead with the hoodies if possible. S to talk with her friend about ideas on Friday, and report back on Saturday, hopefully they can be done within one week and for a reasonable cost (prayer would be great)

TEAS would like to have a particular verse we can hold on to as a bit of a theme etc of the trip, also it will be put (hopefully) on the hoodie.

So far options are as follows.

1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

2 Thessalonians 2:16,17
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

Ephesians 4:11-16
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

John 20:21
Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."

1 Peter 4:10
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.

Romans 15:5-6
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 12:2-5
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Isaiah 42:1, 6-7
"Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations.
"I, the LORD , have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand.
I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.

Philemon 1:6
I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.

Isaiah 41:8-10
"But you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,
I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

John 16:3-15
They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. I have told you this, so that when the time comes you will remember that I warned you. I did not tell you this at first because I was with you.
"Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
"I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.

Romans 15:14
I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another.

John 8:31
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.

There are quite a few there, but our plan is to going to meditate on these verses and see if any really stand out, but any thoughts or comments you have would be most appreciated.

Time was then spent in prayer, followed by something of a lesson in Albanian from Emily. It was decided that having a girlfriend proficient in Albanian was a distinct advantage!

Next meeting to occur at 09:00 at E’s place, this Saturday – T will be back home by then though. Also this coming wednesday will be a day of fasting for the team.

Meeting closed approximately 22:30

Am I correct in thinking that most of your journey to Albania will be spent sitting down? I only ask as it may be somewhat relevant to Emily's current predicament... :)
